Dose of Inspiration : Music that Tug my Heartstrings
1. Beautiful Disaster by Jon McLaughlin - When I find myself unworthy of any affection, care or attention, this song gives me a much needed consolation and incredible sense of comfort. The simple, homely, unattractive girl is given so much otherworldly substance and fails to comprehend her manifold grace and Jon McLaughlin tells the message with so much heart, you will definitely need a swab of tissue.
2. Until You by Dave Barnes - The feeling of being in love and happy - that's what the song means. The simple melody, the lovely lyrics, the image of pleasant dreams when I hear it. It's just being right there, somehow, somewhere, in this crazy spin of love that envelopes me and swathing me all over letting me feel brand new and wonderfully, magically complete.
3. O Magnum Mysterium (M. Lauridsen) - This piece of music makes you realize the genius of man and how he is capable of creating such mysterious captivating force through these ethereal voices blending in an unworldly fashion, crisscrossing one another's bringing me into my knees. That is what I feel in awe.
4. Canon in D Major (Pachelbel) - I imagine a wedding, all in white, a garden wedding, people gather in a peaceful place with fluttering butterflies and the melancholia of the cries of the early morning birds and sun rays warming their faces and as well as the cold cold hearts of these people. Then the bride marches in, in such a radiant way, treads in the ground, bearing her smile, a bouquet of flowers in her hand. She is happy. She really is. One cannot fathom the bliss she feels - this is her wedding day. And as she approaches, he receives her hand and takes her to The Divine and the world spins madly on for them both.
5. Liz on Top of the World (Dario Marianelli) - The feeling of being free, being on your own, doing things you know you can do. This is my theme when I'm on top of the world and by that I mean it's either the balcony or the rooftop. This makes me feel that I exist, I am part the world.
6. Stars And Butterflies (Dario Marianelli) - Falling in love in the most wonderful way. This, I think is what you hear when you really are falling in love in a much divinest sense. I hope I can hear it within me someday.
7. Emma Woodhouse Was Borne (Samuel Sim) - Life is easy. Life is sweet. Nothing matters but what is today. Epicurean. Lovely. I'd listen to this song when I get up in the morning. It has such innumerable revitalizing moments. It is a harmonious frenzy. It will then drift into this darker, suspenseful tones and you know that your fate shifted. Life. Unpredictable. Yet still lovely.
8. The Nicest Thing by Kate Nash - I was this kind of girl, once, before. Every girl WAS in one point or the other in their pasts. I was a little obsessive, crazy, scary! But that was it. I've grown. But this gives me the memory of those times. I know a lot of girls do foolish things because they think that what they feel is love and it feels as if the only way towards happiness is being noticed by the nicest boy. But girls, that is just infatuation - unhealthy love. Someday, you'll know for yourself and you'll laugh at those stupid scribbles in your journal about him.
9. Little House by Amanda Seyfried - Amanda has this sweet and innocent voice and this is such a beautiful song. For me it's about long distance relationship wherein the man is away and the woman waits for him in their little house and "the fire is here to stay" means the love they have will never extinguish. The thought is fairly simple and so amazingly pure.
10. Star Mile by Joshua Radin - So poignant and impeccable to me. The voice of Joshua Radin is not exactly what I always listen to, but this one I see as mind-altering. Only few songs truly strike me within the first minute, but this one did. I am so amazed at how any one song can display so many emotions and appeal to so many aspects to life. While there is a consistent tone of sadness, there is also a feeling of hope for what is to come. As the girl who is always left out, this is my song to those who took me for granted.
