I walked the pier and smiled over the vastness I see
Before the furrowed blue shoals extending infinitely towards thee
Aboard the waves that ferries me closer to the place you’ll be
Exultation still I feel through the violent wind in extreme angst flee
As the sea rolls on the beach, rocking and gnawing my send
The long caresses of the breeze smoothen the black wires in my head
The gray skied afternoon exude melancholic cries overhead
The seconds do only but bedew my longing with sensations unfettered
Oh, but it is these vastness that wills the islands to stay at bay
This is the infinity that lingers between us that together we cannot stay
The sea that holds everything in place also spoils the words we ought to say
No matter how I reach out, you’ll always will be on the other side for another day
As I leave the pier when sweet moonlight glimmers dim
As I dislodge myself from the ship that has gone a beautiful, sinuous thing
And as I finally see in your unchanging face that bright childlike grin
I knew, the wait’s over. You have come at last to my arms again.
