This is definitely a book for summer.
Rowan wants to disentangle herself from her own family - pressurizing parents and a ridiculuos brother. Now that she's graduated from high school, she wants to escape from all the pressures of her life in London. She thinks that spending a year in the USA will be the best decision she will take. But after working for a psychotic lady and her kiddo, she feels more trapped than ever. In the mean time, she made friends with an iguana. Iggy is a symbolism of her own self. So together they set out, made themselves free by escaping yet again in California and its beautiful city lights. On the way to San Francisco, they meet a boy called Landon who invites her to the country hotel he worked at the last year. We then experience the twists and turns of her new found happiness and derision in a packed journey. The boy Landon became a romantic interest and at last, her escape to the USA was the best thing to do afterall.
I'm not really into chick literature but I enjoyed this one.
