Newbie Staffer

Yesterday night was the first time I was inside The Forum Dimensions office, where my first meeting and conversation with the other old members took place. I was warmly sitting in a lovely huge couch talking fast facts about myself and a 'kangaroo'. Raimer beside me, talked about a 'rotten rat'. And all was ridiculously funny.

Out of about 70 entrees, 5 got in, that includes me and Raimer. They were surprised to know that two students of the same class, of the same school, of the same school paper and , well, close pals got in. It was a rare incident, they told us, with the wow factor.

The organization was very, well, organized, I must say. Unlike old school, they were counting on each other yet they are are not depending or leaning at each others back. Each editor functions unlike high school where only editors cram writing all the articles and finding all the photos to be attached to the issue without the help of the staffers. The trend.

I'm going to be busy, since we are having our first tabloid and mag issues. I'm not sure about the funds and matters about publication (these are in my head, when people ask about publishing the paper, which is all the time) but I hope it won't be like high school's. I am assigned to write a news feature about a medicine student who was a Pathfinder Awardee at Germany. I'm going to have an interview with him and I'm trying to contact him. I am recently making a connections through my well-off classmates. Sometimes being an assertive person is desirable to bring about a writing job. Who said that writers are downright introverts?
And good thing, I have a digital camera, snaps are easy to acquire now.

I am also consigned to write down a poem about concealed restraints slash sinister characteristics of being human and a feature story for the Dimensions magazine.

And there's a lot more actually.

The organization is also planning to conduct a regional seminar and competition for writing in all three levels; primary, secondary, and college levels.

And we have outreach programs including seminar workshops to barangay elementary schools.
And I recently found out that there is some cold war existing among WVSU college papers, and Forum is included. That is kind of interesting actually. Ma'am Heaven isturyahanay ta about ka dya ah. Hehe. You know.

Next thing we did, free dinner at McDonald's. Yuhoo. I got satiated with fries, can't get enough though. An extensive conversation until 10 in the evening made us busy while munching the free food. And after that, I came to know them and all of them are my idols, truly. I'm hard to please, but really, they pleased me without them even trying.

I think I won't commit to any other clubs from now. I'm so contented and happy with where I belong. Yeah, I think I belong here. These people are not the regular people you'll meet on hallways having their excitatory or inhibitory stages and they are so like me or the other way around. I swear I'll love it here and I am up to the challenge of what it takes to be a Dimensions staffer.
